Lulu Zey, 90, of Sedalia, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at Kansas City Hospice
House in Kansas City.
She was born Sept. 22, 1917, in Edmundson, a daughter of George and Mary
Sumners Snavely. On March 30, 1940, in Sedalia, she was married to Aubrey Forrest Zey, who died Nov. 4, 2001.
Mrs. Zey was a member of East Sedalia Baptist Church and Bothwell Hospital
ladies auxillary. She volunteered at Rest Haven Nursing Home, was active in XYZ and delivered Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling. She retired from Horace Mann School after 25 years, where she was head cook. She was a 1934 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School.
Surviving are two sons, Aubrey Zey Jr., and his wife, Lyn, of Leawood, Kan.,
and Roland Zey, and his wife, Millie, of Troy, Ill.; a sister, Mayme McGirk, of
Sedalia; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Henry, Sarah Kathryn Witten, Richard
Aubrey Zey and Amanda Susan Zey; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Joy Ohlrich, Ruth Norman and Idella Sands; and a brother, Roland Snavely.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, at Crown Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. H. Wayne Isgriggs officiating.
Pallbearers will be Richard Zey, Jeff Forester, Wilbur Quinlan and R.D. Kahrs.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at
Heckart Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice House or
East Sedalia Baptist Church.
